Samples of text and macro images of ground recorded daily in 2022 form the basis of this body of work developed during Vanessa’s residency. While working on a series of prints Wallace opted to limit herself to one font and used ink mixed to replicate that of a graphite pencil, selecting phases that lose meaning when removed from the original text. UV printing was employed to print text in white ink onto cream paper to form an occasional visible surface difficult to read and paired with duotone images constructed by sampling two prominent colours within the original photographs of ground. All these actions seek to remove and reinterpret the initial recording perhaps commenting on the way memory changes every time it is re-remembered
